* The first surviving factory record is from 1861. Hence Reed's start date of "12/58" is established from other sources (P.L. Small, and Crossman). The factory didn't begin to record the actual adjusters' names until January, 1869, after Reedno longer managed the factory, and ceased to record adjusters in 1894.
